What happens when three young adults with learning challenges go on a road trip together in search of inspiration? With the help of Roadtrip Nation and Understood.org, you get a must-watch documentary for all families who are impacted in some way by learning difficulties.
Being You
Being you follows Stephanie, Nicole, and Noah as they travel across the nation. Their mission? To interview people who inspire them. These “leaders” have learning struggles of their own, and have found plenty of ways to turn their negative experiences into positives.
Among the interviewees are a high school dropout who went to Harvard, a successful game developer, and even comedian Howie Mandel. They all offer inspiring stories, of course, but it’s the interviewers themselves who may have the greatest impact on your child. Completely relatable, and bold enough to sign up for the journey in the first place, they allow us to watch their own transformations of self-discovery.
I can’t think of anyone, child or adult, who wouldn’t be moved by this one hour documentary of courage, refreshing honesty, and hope. Watch Being You with your family. While you’re there, scroll down for some terrific discussion questions. This film may even change your entire perspective on what it means to live with learning challenges.
If you are looking for ways to
- uplift your struggling learner
- to open your child up to so much more of life’s possibilities
- or to remove the stigma and shame often associated with learning difficulties
Being You does all of the above.
